Leimonias Social and Tennis Morning
For the Ambassador’s Spouses Association (ASA) on Monday 17 May 2010 For the seventh time in a row, the HLTC Leimonias Social and Tennis Morning for the Ambassador’s Spouses Association and the Judges of the International Organisations and special guests took place at the beautiful premises of the Haagsche Lawn Tennis Club Leimonias. This prestigious tennis club was established in 1888. This year they won again the title of champion of The Netherlands for the 19th time. This informal day was again kindly sponsored by the ABN AMRO Bank, represented by Mr. Daniel Poot. 29 ladies, spouses of the ambassadors and judges of the international courts and international organisations played and chatted in a marvellous atmosphere. The tennis players fought their matches with genuine enthusiasm and pleasure. For a couple of hours the tennis courts resounded with the thwack of rackets, whistles, cries of joy or disappointment and shouts of encouragement from the watching spectators. After every round they were released by the whistle for handshaking and regrouping with different partners. The tennis players who did not play in between could join the other ladies for a chat. At noon drinks were offered outside on the lawn, while pictures were taken of the group. While enjoying a delicious Dutch luncheon, prizes were given away for the winner of the 1st place (Mrs. Claudia Lomonaco of Mexico), the runner up (Mrs. Joke Duckwitz of Brussels), third prize (Mrs. Eman Talhouni of Jordan) and consolation prize (Mrs. Heather Wall of Canada). According to the many warm reactions we received, this day was again a great success and everyone is looking forward to have this event organized again next year, with an eye to the ABNAMRO Bank, as without them it would not be possible to realize such an event.
